Getting your team work perfected with your "Heel"
Help your best friend learn what makes you Happy
Puppies need time to play socially with others that appreciate the same play, biting, muscle development and so much more.
They need patient guidance to help your pup recognize how to repeat behaviors that make you happy. The pup doesn't know why that makes you happy, only that they love knowing they accomplished something that made you happy.
Check out teaching your puppy how to "come" will make life so much better for both of you. One of the most important tasks to teach your puppy.
Stay is another vital task command for life with a great dog. This specific task is so important for life with a controllable dog that you can take anyway reliably.
Keep going, exciting task training keeps the puppy interested and happy. As your pup progresses you can start mixing the task commands. Enjoy the progress, take a break when your pup tires, so they are always excited for training times.
When your pup clearly comprehends the task, move to off leash. This step is complicated for them, since the leash is no longer their guide. Be patient and go back to the leash, if its too soon rather than learn inappropriate behaviors.
When your pup is ready to start doing tasks while moving and with distractions. Go slowly, better to have every task understood before confusing the pup. Be patient and always happy. Be consistent and fun. If you are both having fun, the training will be lifelong and imprinted better.
When your puppy is ready start complicating the training with other dogs or noises. This creates dependable reactions to the task command and allows you to correct when needed. Always stay positive, if you are frustrated or your pup isn't focusing go back to singleton training for a little while longer.
Be patient and up beat. You will need to talk a lot at first to keep the puppy invested in the process. Its not something most breeds do naturally. Have fun, be consistent, end when the pup has done the task perfectly, if only for 1 minute. You pup will feel accomplished and look forward to the next time you bring the leash or collar out.
If you do the basic tasks consistently with love and attention to keeping the training fun, your puppy will advance more quickly and retain the training for life. Now, its time for distractions to help reinforce the need to listen and wait for commands. All training will need to be tested in private before challenging your task imprinting in a environment full of multiple distractions. Remain positive, go back to the beginning if needed. End on a positive, always.
How many of you have always wanted your pup to come directly in front of you in a perfect sit, immediately when called ? Here's how its done. Teach the "come" task, then teach the sit in "front" command, then add in the walking away while calling to come. Step by step you are creating an amazing responsive happy pup that loves you, coming when called and training in general.
Easy when you reward and praise each task you pup has successfully achieved instantly. Young minds need a lot of stimulation, so make it fun, stay upbeat, and consistent.
